Akram Sheriff is a Senior AI,ML, GENAI Software Engineering leader, Technologist, Product evangelist with strong experience, expertise in the past in Applied ML/AI, IoT, Wireless Networking, Enterprise Networking, Embedded Software, Cloud SaaS applications involving research, production code implementation, innovation and architecture related work. Akram holds 40+ software patents granted by the (USPTO) and remaining are currently pending review at USPTO, ROW and in the EU region. He specializes in different wireless protocols, IoT software stacks, and technologies for IoT products, and leads various product series. He is also an active peer reviewer of IEEE publications in areas related to WiFi, BLE, Wireless networking trends, AI/Machine learning, Enterprise WiFi, IoT architectures, and the Cloud networking domain. Akram loves to work with Customers for solving AIOps related problems in different industry verticals that can transform SDWAN,SASE,SSE Networking into AI Driven SDWAN Networking for both Enterprise & IOT usecases. In the past as part of Stanford SAIL, GSB programs he has researched, innovated and built "Target Hardware aware adaptive quantization technique based ML model runtime"- TinyML based which is cross-portable across different Embedded MCU platforms (8 bit,16 bit) for doing efficient AI Inferencing at the Edge. In 2017 Akram and a team of 2 other individuals within Cisco conceived, innovated, architected and built a SaaS product to solve "ML driven Energy power optimization problem" called "iPOWER" from scratch leveraging ML-AI, IOT, Data Streaming frameworks , WIFI, BLE, RFID technologies to deliver MVP prototype to IOT + DCIM Market for which he won Cisco IEC4 (Global internal Innovation) award in 2017 from CEO and CSO in San Jose. The final Productized v2 version of the product was soft launched in marketplace for partner and customer traction in IOT + DCIM verticals in late 2017. Akram is also an active member in some IETF working groups related to 6LoWPAN, RAW related to different low power wireless technologies. Akram is also a frequent presenter in many Internal Cisco Live, Devnet, APJC SecCon -2020 and external conferences in topics related to AI/ML, Wireless Networking, IoT, and Cloud technologies.
